Create Inspection Plans

Follow these 4 steps to learn how to create and edit Inspection Plans


STEP 1: Set Commodity, Control Point, and Defect Group

  1. If you selected control points and commodities at signup, Inspection Plans were created for every control point/commodity. (e.g.: Grape Receiving, Grape Cold Storage, Grape Shipping)

  2. To see a list, click on the Settings Gear near the top-right corner of the window, then click on “Inspection Plans.”

  3. To see how Inspections Plans are built in Quality, click “New Inspection” near the top-right corner of the window.

  4. Select a commodity from the drop-down menu near the top-left of the window.

  5. Select a control point (beneath the commodity drop-down).

  6. Type in a name of the new Inspection Plan.

  7. Select a Defect Group from the drop-down menu.


STEP 2: Select Header Fields (create User Defined Fields)

  1. Look at the list of Available Fields on the right half of the window. Click and drag (or click “Add”) all fields you want to include in your Inspection Plan.

  2. Once you have added the Header Fields you want in your Inspection Plan, you can arrange them in any order by clicking on and dragging a Header Field up or down in the list.

  3. To create new Header Fields not in the Available Fields, click the Settings Gear in the top-right corner of the window. Then, click “User Defined Fields.”

  4. Click “New Field” then name the new field what you want. The field will be a alphanumeric field that allows letters and numbers.

  5. To add the new field to an Inspection Plan, click on the Settings Gear then click “Inspection Plans.”

  6. Hover over the Inspection Plan you want to add the new User Defined Field to. Click “Edit” to the right of the Inspection Plan name.

  7. Find the new field in the Available Fields on the right half of the window, and Click and drag (or click “Add”) the new field into the Selected Fields.


STEP 3: Select Specs (create new specs)

  1. Look at the list of Available Fields on the right half of the window. Click and drag (or click “Add”) all fields you want to include in your Inspection Plan.

  2. Once you have added the Specs you want in your Inspection Plan, you can arrange them in any order by clicking on and dragging a Spec up or down in the list.

  3. To create new Specs not in the Available Specs, click the Settings Gear in the top-right corner of the window. Then, click “User Defined Fields.”

  4. Click “New Spec” and you’ll see a list of options. The list below gives a brief description of each. Click which type of Spec you’d like to create. Then, name the new field what you want. The field will be a text field that allows letters and numbers.

    1. Boolean: simple yes or no field.

    2. Decimal: any numbered spec that requires decimal places.

    3. List: create a list of option for an inspector to choose from.

    4. Integer: any spec that requires numeric value with no decimal places.

    5. Percent: any field that requires percent, rather than decimal value.

    6. Score: create a list with a numeric score and score description.

    7. Temperature: numeric temperature field.

    8. Text: this field can hold numbers and letters.

    9. Weight: number field for recording weights. You define unit of measure.

  5. To add the new spec to an Inspection Plan, click on the Settings Gear then click “Inspection Plans.”


Always click “Submit” in the bottom-left of the window. Scroll down as far as you can.  


STEP 4: Create new Defects and Defect Groups

  1. Click on the Settings Gear, then click on “Defects.”

  2. Click on “New Defect.”

  3. Type a name for the new defect.

  4. Click “Submit” in the lower-left of the window.

  5. To create a new Defect Group, click on the Settings Gear, then click on “Defect Groups.”

  6. Type a name for the new defect group and type a default sample size.

  7. From the Available Defects list, add the defects you want into either the Serious Defects group or Non-Serious Defects group.

  8. Click “Submit” in the lower-left of the window.
